Ever since we began, we’ve always given some of our profits to charity. We actively promote our charitable giving through “Connect in the Community” projects.
Our mission is to be proud of our achievements and build a sustainable future for our customers, team, partners, suppliers and neighbours.
We don’t have all the answers yet and we have a lot more challenges to work on, but what we can tell you is, like other things in life, we are taking it one step at a time.
What’s important to us is that we place corporate social responsibility as a priority in all the decisions we make. Here’s what we’re doing to ensure we are becoming a more respectable and responsible company.
Our Connect in the Community Projects are all about contribution to greater causes. It’s our little way of contributing to those who need the extra support.
Uniquely, we allocate a proportion of our profits each year to give to a range of charitable causes.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of our closest causes we donate to. We also support Teenage Cancer Trust, Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary and our local homeless centre.
Our team even help donate to make a difference. Every month we collect money from our in-house food and snack machine, which gets donated to, Macmillan Cancer Support.
We check the labels, so you don’t have to!
In order for us to provide premium products it’s vital to ensure long-term sustainability is key to all business decisions. We’re committed to offering ethically purchased and responsibly produced products of the highest quality. We strive to work with suppliers and manufacturers who have the same earth, environment and community respect as we do!
We are very aware that we do not actually manufacture the products that are sold through our machines. We specify what we want, we chose our suppliers very carefully and we monitor to ensure that quality is maintained year in and year out. But behind the supplier is a raw material supply chain that is equally vital to giving our customers the very best products.
In all our dealings with suppliers we have a real focus on that supply chain – we are keen to ensure it is sustainable, that it is equitable and that it is fair. Without these attributes it is not a supply chain that can survive and therefore the whole product offering is endangered.
Sometimes the best way of achieving a stable supply chain is to look for accreditations such as Fair Trade, Rain Forest Alliance, UTZ etc. And, indeed some of our products feature these accreditations. But some accreditations only cover a limited range of products and do not always fulfil the “sustainable, equitable and fair” criteria we are looking for. Therefore we go beyond “badges” and look at the philosophy of the suppliers we deal with. We look for integrity in their dealings with us and others. We judge their attitude to us and others. We try to ensure we only deal with nice, friendly and sincere folk – as we find that usually means they extend these values down the supply chain. It’s a simple, almost “homely” philosophy that is the luxury of a truly independent business – we only want to deal with suppliers that share our same fundamental values.
That has meant saying no to a few household names in the past – there are some we will never deal with – but it has resulted in a strong, loyal, innovative and equally passionate set of supplier partners that we are proud to do business with. After all, what they make goes into our machines and there is nothing much more important to us than that!
Our comprehensive approach to reducing our environmental impact means looking at all aspects of our business, how they interact and how we can integrate new solutions to create meaningful and sustained change.
We’ve found lots of ways to be kinder to the environment, here’s how:
We are proud sponsors of Berinsfield Football Club, Maccabi London Lions as well as, Wealdstone FC team.
